Counseling Children (COUN 736)

COUN 736

This course introduces theories and techniques of counseling children and adolescents as well as assessment and treatment of child and adolescent disorders. A number of modalities will be considered, with an emphasis on using play therapy from an ecosystemic orientation (O'Connor, 2000) and a neurobiological perspective of how the interaction of early relationship and brain development shape a person's internal representation (Siegal, 2001). Spiritual issues as well as counseling contexts in the church and the community will be addressed.
