An introduction to the field of homiletics, including the study of its oral, rhetorical, and hermeneutical traditions with a brief exploration of future directions in homiletics. Students will explore the biblical basis for preaching, including the motivation and content of communication to the people of God in the church and outside the church. Student sermons will be videotaped, evaluated by peers, and analyzed by the instructor.
