The North American Church is the church in exile. The West is plainly not Christian. Mission is no longer “over the ocean,” it is “over the fence,” and even “under the same roof.” North America is now a mission field. This course explores fresh visions of what it means to be the church in North America. It asks what forms and practices best empower the church to bear witness in her missionary context. It raises questions about the significance of the gospel in our culture. It explores the theological challenges facing the North American Church in her missional setting.
