Student and Alumni Stories
Dave Sinclair-Peters
Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary inspired my wife and I to live out our faith in a community. MBBS gave us opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom to meet in small groups, open up our hearts to each other and allow the Holy Spirit to work deeply in our lives. MBBS' location challenged us to live in a low income area and live out our faith among new immigrants, working-class folks and the homeless. MBBS equipped us to study the bible and think biblically.
As church planters in a foreign culture, we are challenged daily to make the message of God’s love in the bible relevant to people who have never heard the name of Jesus. We’ve seen lives changed as the Spirit uses the bible to open up hearts and minds to the truth that Jesus is the only one who can save us from sin.
Dave graduated from Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary’s Fresno, California campus in 1993 with his Master of Divinity degree. Along with his wife Louise, also an alumnus of the Seminary, they have served with MBMS International’s Team 2000 in Thailand since 2001. Dave and Louise have four children: Kyla, Micah, Grace and Sierra.
Rebecca Stanley
More than anything, what Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary has given me has been the confidence and encouragement to pursue God’s calling. As my husband and I have committed to living missionally on the west side of Vancouver as pastors of a new faith community, my time at MBBS has been foundational, providing a network of support, an atmosphere of both biblical and innovative thinking, and a confidence in my calling as a woman in pastoral ministry. For these gifts, I am incredibly grateful.
Rebecca is a 2008 Master of Arts in Christian Studies graduate from Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary’s campus in Langley, British Columbia. She and her husband Andrew are church planters with the British Columbia Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches and have three children: Hannah, Faith, and Micah.
Matthew Insley
The level of instruction in Bible I’ve received from deeply faithful professors here has been remarkable. In keeping with the Anabaptist perspective from which they teach, the professors place a great deal of stress on doing biblical theology. That is, we’re committed to consulting the Scriptures when we want to find out what God is like, what God is doing, and how we are called to live as a result.
Matthew Insley is in his final year in the Master of Divinity program at Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary’s Fresno California campus. He currently serves as Youth Pastor at College Community Church Mennonite Brethren in Clovis, California.
Brent Warkentin
The combination of academic challenge, caring professors, and relationships with other students at Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary truly helped to equip me for full-time church ministry. While seminaries typically prepare students academically, MBBS was also focused on preparing me practically. Their unique emphasis on an anabaptist/evangelical perspective was also a valuable experience.
Brent graduated from Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary’s Fresno California campus in 1990 with his Master of Divinity degree. He currently serves as Lead Pastor of First MB Church in Wichita, Kansas. He is married to Joan and they have two daughters: Janet and Stacey.
