Computers
Student Leadership Team (SLT) maintains a workroom and computers
which are available for student use next to the ontario lounge. The Hiebert Library also has a limited number of computers available to students.
Student Lab Printer Installation Instructions
You will only be able to print to the student lab printer when your laptop is connected to an internet port in the computer lab.
Mac OS X
Start the printer setup utility (Applications -> Utilities -> Printer Setup Utility)
- Click on: Add
- Select: IP Printing
Printer Type: Socket/HP Jet Direct
Printer Address: studentlab1.printers.mbseminary.edu
Queue Name: studentlab1.printers.mbseminary.edu
Printer Model: HP
Once HP is selected as the printer model select "Laserjet 2100 Series" from the menu of HP printers.
- Click on: Add
Windows XP/2000
Start by going to your control panel (Start - Settings - Control Panel). Click on the following:
- Printers
- Add Printer
- Next
- Select "Local Printer" and uncheck the box "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer"
- Next
- Select "Create a New Port" and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" from the drop down list and click next
- A new window will pop up
- Next
- Printer Name or IP Address "studentlab1.printers.mbseminary.edu" then click next
- Select "Standard: Generic Network Card" and Next
- Finish
- On the Manufactures' Tab select "HP" then on the printers tab select "HP Laserjet 2100" and hit Next
- Select a Printer Name for this printer "studentlab1.printers.mbseminary.edu" might be a good choice but you can call it whatever you want.. Select whether or not you want this to be your default printer (if you primarily print from the student lab printer you might want to select yes) and click Next
- Select "Do not share this printer"
- Select yes for "print a test page" and click next
- Click finish - it should print a test page and you should be configured correctly
The window that popped up should close.
Other Operating Systems
If you have an operating system other than those listed above you can manually configure your computer to print to the student lab printer at the standard TCP/IP port at "studentlab1.printers.mbseminary.edu". The printer model is a HP LaserJet 2100 and your operating system will likely have the drivers pre-installed, if not you can download them at http://www.hp.com.
